Tucson small businesses we love

  • Forbes meat company

Forbes Meat Company is the place to go for fine locally sourced dining in a high-end, but casual, community style environment. Fresh seafood flown in daily, locally raised beef, craft cocktails, a ridiculous beer selection, and a butcher shop all in one! Ben Forbes and his team absolutely epitomize the Tucson vibe.

  • Rocco's little Chicago

Rocco’s Little Chicago is a legendary spot here in town, instantly becoming our favorite when we moved to Tucson in 2016. Rocco’s serves up the best wings and Chicago pies around and they even have their own locally brewed beer, Rocco’s Lager. A fellow musician, Rocco DiGrazia is Tucson’s Punk Rock Pizzaiolo.

  • El Compa Mexican Food

We discovered El Compa while building Zapp City and it’s become not only a favorite, but maybe even an addiction! Parked at 902 W Miracle Mile Mon-Fri, the folks at the El Compa food truck are proudly serving up the best Sonoran staples in town. The quesabirria tacos, Sonoran hot dogs and bacon wrapped carne asada burritos are absolutely ridiculous!

  • the gloo factory

Stickers, signage, shirts, buttons, you name it - bands and businesses need it! Forget the online, sight-unseen stuff. Walk into the Gloo Factory, be treated like a friend, check out how they do what they do and have them do it for you! Have you seen how great our logo looks on our glass door to the live room? ‘Nuff said!

  • Stagewerx Pro Sound & Lighting

During this studio build, we’ve strived to spend our dollars locally. Stagewerx absolutely crushes the online and big-box retailers in customer service, and they’ve been able to get all our essential gear at comparable (if not better!) prices. Additionally, they’re offering a 10% discount on strings, sticks, heads, etc. to all Zapp City clients.

  • Bailey's fabric & supply

Bailey’s is just the best. A family owned and run business since 1976, Hannah, Hailey, Sue and Silvia took great care helping us select the right material and fabrics to upholster acoustic panels in our live room, seating in the control room and fabricate curtains ourselves, all while considering budget and taking a personal interest in our project.

  • Arizona picture and frame

Over my nearly 30 year career, I’ve amassed a large collection of tour posters, album art and autographed photos. Jasmine and Karen at Arizona Picture and Frame did a stellar job working with our budget to create beautiful custom frames for many of these pieces to adorn our lounge walls. Another great Tucson gem.

  • jade Beall photography

Jade Beall is a world-renown photographer best known for empowering women through body-positivity and photography. Recognizing her talent and expertise, I’ve hired her to shoot album photos, press photos and most recently, commercial photos of our studio. Jade is an absolute joy to work with and I am proud to call her a friend.

  • Rex Scofield photography

As a touring musician with a handful of gear endorsements, Rex Scofield has brilliantly helped me fulfill my photo obligations. Rex has captured photos of me performing live for Gibson, Gretsch, Curt Mangan Strings, Clayton USA, Mondell Custom Guitars and various other promos. He’s a true music fan, a connoisseur of fine coffee, and one cool Tucson cat!

  • sensi mechanical

Ryan and Danielle at Sensi Mechanical have been keeping our home HVAC running smoothly for a couple years now. When it was time to run AC in the live room and control room at Zapp City, they got the call. Sensi went above and beyond to make sure we keep our working musicians cool!

  • Marana Pinball Collective

What would a studio be without a ‘70s pinball machine, am I right?! And sometimes, these things need a tune-up. Ben Clement with Marana Pinball Collective is Tucson’s pinball guy, and he has our ‘76 Bally’s Elton John Captain Fantastic playing great. Don’t have your own machine? Go play his and check out his league.
